Although Planting Hope is best known for its trips to Nicaragua, our organization also dedicates itself to creating full-circle cultural exchanges. By bringing some of our Nicaraguan staff members to the United States for 1-2 month visits, Planting Hope offers 3-5 day “Artists in Residencies” at local schools & community organizations. Planting Hope staff perform and give workshops on an array of activities from Nicaraguan dance to theater to music to art to Spanish language lessons. In addition, these trips are also an opportunity for our staff to reconnect with individuals who participated in past service-learning trips to Nicaragua.
In August and September, Planting Hope’s Music, Dance, Drama and Physical Education teacher Marvin Kraudy Flores will visit Vermont and offer Artist in Residencies to Vermont Elementary and High Schools. For more information about Planting Hope’s residencies, click here.
